You may be too late to direct the current Vin Diesel, but you may discover the next rising star if you do your homework and get the right media training.

A career in video and film production isn't all glamour and partying with the rich and famous. A solid foundation in media training is essential if you have thought about this role as a career choice and are convinced that you have what it takes.

The world of film and video production is full of very talented people, and you need to get the right media training, as well as be in the right place at the right time.

Can a Prince Look at a Pauper?
Whether you decide to specialize in big budget Hollywood film and video production, or are happier being in total control of smaller projects such as corporate videos, your choice of media training will lay the foundations for your future career. We cannot all be as lucky as Vin Diesel when he happened to be offered his first job as a kid, while trespassing in a theater. Nor do we all have Mom and Dad to bankroll us. That doesn't mean to say it's not possible.

There are plenty of successful film producers and directors out there who have come from humble means. People like Robert Rodriguez, who turned these disadvantages into a unique style and benefited from being able to use finance in the most cost effective way possible. He may have learned the hard way, but it was a lesson well learned.

If film and video production is what you really want to do, then with some solid media training and commitment, there is no reason why you shouldn't make a career out of it. The secret of a successful career is to follow heart and do something you really enjoy.
