Despite the fact that Delta is warning its pilots that a strike at this stage of the game would be equal to a "murder-suicide," Delta aircraft mechanics are in great shape as other competitive air carriers are waiting in the wings to give them employment. In this business, a little training goes a long way.
Delta Airlines has not made it out of the proverbial dark woods just yet. News on the union front is that Delta pilots are considering a massive strike by rejecting their newest contract in bankruptcy court. But to do so would be the equivalent of "murder-suicide," according to Delta officials. Also playing the waiting game are Delta’s aircraft mechanics, who have spent years training for their positions.
Aircraft Mechanic Training Gives You an Edge
- Almost Broke? Delta has been meeting in bankruptcy court in order to help get its faltering airline out of the red, by dealing with the pilots over about $325 million in concession money.
- Not Believing the Hype. Delta aircraft officials have stated that any attempt to liquidate the airline as opposed to saving it through concessions will be both illegal and unethical in Federal Court.
- Support for the Contract. The Airline Pilots Association is planning a massive union rally for the contract sometime next week.
At first glance, trouble for the airline pilots might mean trouble for the aircraft mechanics as well. However, the aircraft mechanics with specialized training will never be out of a job. There are thousands of opportunities in the airline industry for mechanics with training. From cargo carriers to the military, getting your training in aircraft mechanic concepts will keep you working.
Aircraft Mechanic Training
- Environment. Once you complete your aircraft mechanic training, you will be working in airplane hangars of all sizes.
- Outlook. As our airline industry slowly gets back on its feet, there will be a bevy of opportunities for an aircraft mechanic with training.
- Education. Your aircraft mechanic training program is typically a two- year program with a year of on the job training.
